The glaciers never quite reached the southwest corner of Wisconsin. As a result, there are beautiful rolling hills and vast open areas cleared long ago for agriculture.
 
I pulled to the side of the road overlooking a beautifully slanted scene as the smoke began to clear from the devastating Canadian wildfires in 2023. The trees disappeared into a hazy smoke screen off in the distance.
